In a formal election held at the annual conference in Chennai, Senior Cardiologist, Dr PC Rath, from Hyderabad was elected to lead the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) for the period 2023–2024.
Dr. PC Rath is a prominent Consultant Cardiologist and the head of the Cardiology Department at Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills. Dr. Rath is a pioneer of many percutaneous cardiac techniques, including complicated coronary angioplasty and stenting, robotic angioplasty, and percutaneous valve therapy procedures.
CSI is an organization that includes both Indian cardiologists who practice abroad and cardiologists within India. It has more than 5000 members. The late Bharat Ratna Dr. Vidhan Shankar Roy, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal in Independent India, led the foundation of the Cardiological Society of India in Kolkata in 1948. He led CSI as its founding president.
Dr. PC Rath will be a key contributor to the development of the scientific program for the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Cardiological Society of India, which will mark its 75th anniversary in December 2023 in Kolkata.
