The 10th Global Conclave of the Association of Healthcare Providers was concluded at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur on Saturday, 11th of February, 2023. The two-day event witnessed huge participation of eminent personalities of the medical field across the country including hospital owners, administrators, managers, scientists, and nursing managers.
The annual event was centered around the theme, “Integrative Model for Healthcare Delivery: Focusing on Technology, Cost and Patient Wellbeing”.
The programme agenda included sessions on India taking a leadership role in healthcare, national initiatives on “Health for All”, mitigating non-communicable diseases, improving hospital operational excellence, making healthcare affordable, creating a culture for quality & patient safety, and transformational technology.
Dr Girdhar Gyani- the Director General of AHPI- claimed that private hospitals have a major share in the medical sector of India as they provide 80% of the super specialty services to patients but they face problems due to the universal health coverage schemes of the governments.
He said that the cost of treatment per bed in government hospitals is ₹8,500 and is much higher in private hospitals. He demanded that billing must be done in government hospitals to make patients aware of their treatment costs and compare it with private hospitals.
AHPI President Dr. Alexander Thomas was of the view, “The government should fix the prices of government health insurance schemes on the basis that private hospitals can benefit from quality medical services. It can be made available to the general public uninterruptedly.”
They have demanded that the government should increase the budgetary allocation on provision of medical services.
The concept of making India a vishwaguru of healthcare in the next 20 years, artificial intelligence, efficient economic management, maximum use of IT and data, patient satisfaction, safety of healthcare workers and the problems related to it were discussed in detail at the conclave.
Making healthcare affordable through portable imaging and diagnostic services was another topic of discussion. The importance of quality in healthcare, patient safety, technology, and medical tourism was emphasized.
